Unless the Sloth has very strong stats for its cost, it would probably be a solid but not format-defining role-player, most likely seeing play in casual or slower midrange metas rather than high-level competitive formats
Even creatures that enter the battlefield with +1/+1 counters already on them, like Yorvo, Lord of Garenbrig, have their counters factored into the stat comparison
Ultimately, Commander players need to stop surrendering to their Goopy Goblin Gamer Brains, play some removal, and pay some taxes
